Fire Academy Program

 

Andrews ISD and Odessa College have partnered to offer a Fire Academy starting in the 2024-2025 school year. This will be a double block course with hands-on learning opportunities during your junior and senior year. The first year and a half of the program will focus on fire training with the last semester focused on EMT. 

Students completing this program will complete coursework at Andrews ISD with hands-on training occurring at Odessa College. If students successfully complete the program, they will earn their Level I Certificate Basic Firefighter as well as become a certified Firefighter and certified Basic EMT.

Important Fire Academy details:

  1. Students earn their Level 1 Certificate Basic Firefighter from Odessa College by concurrently completing Fire Academy courses while completing their high school course requirements. Students complete fire courses and clinicals during their junior year and fall of their senior year. Students complete basic EMT course and clinicals during spring of their senior year.
  2. Juniors may apply. Students must complete the application process with and be selected by Odessa College for placement into the program.
