Core Complete

In addition to the traditional associate degree completion to transfer pathway, Texas allows for transfer after Core Completion (completion of 42 designated semester credit hours of general education coursework). Reference is often made to “getting my basics” at a community college, but students and their families are often uncertain about exactly what that means. The Odessa College Core Complete Transfer Certificate is offered through dual credit.

Important Core Complete details:

  1. Students earn a certificate from Odessa College by concurrently completing 42+ core college hours while completing their high school course requirements. The state of Texas has 42 core hours that will be accepted at any public university in Texas if a student earns this certificate.
  2. Sophomores and juniors may apply.
  3. This program must be started as a sophomore or junior to be completed in high school through dual credit. Students must apply and be accepted into the appropriate cohort.
