Lady Mustangs Golf Wins 4A State Championship

KINGSLAND, Texas - The Andrews High School Lady Mustangs Golf team captured its 18th State Championship in program history at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland, Texas, Tuesday afternoon. 
 
AHS extended its record as the winningest school in UIL Girls Golf history across all conferences with the win. This is the first state title for the girls golf program since 2019 and the third for Andrews High School this year (Boys Swimming & Diving, Boys Powerlifting, Girls Golf). 
 
The Lady Mustangs dominated the field, shooting 48 over par, 42 strokes better than the runner up. 
 
Sophomore Emme Darnold came in as the lowest score of the weekend with a 152 total score (+8), placing 4th as an individual. Senior Kyleigh McGowen followed in 8th place shooting 10 over par. Senior Peighton Manning rounded out the Top 10 individually, as she shot a 156 (+12) for the weekend. 
 
Darnold, McGowen and Manning were all named All-State for finishing in the Top 10 individually. 
 
Juniors Emma Carrasco and Zoe Woemmel tied for 17th place with a score of 163 over the weekend, 19 shots over par.
