AHS Hires Ashley Dyches to Lead Lady Mustang Volleyball

ANDREWS, Texas – Ashley Dyches has been selected to lead the Lady Mustang Volleyball program, Andrews ISD announced Thursday, April 6. 

 

Dyches (pronounced Dykes) comes to Andrews High School after spending three seasons as the Head Volleyball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at Blue Ridge High School in Blue Ridge, Texas.

 

“I am extremely excited to be an Andrews Mustang and get back to my home roots out in West Texas. I am eager to join a team who believes that, through hard work and dedication, you can achieve great success,” Dyches said. 

 

“I am looking forward to getting started with the girls and my coaching staff and building a family-based culture that creates an energetic and competitive atmosphere that pushes the girls to be their best. I am super grateful for this opportunity and to be under the leadership of Coach Boswell.” 

 

While at Blue Ridge HS, Dyches led the Lady Tigers to three straight playoff appearances and back-to-back district runners up. In just three years, she has posted a 67 percent winning average (64-31) as a head coach. During the 2020 and 2021 seasons, the Lady Tigers finished in second place in district to state contenders Gunter. 

 

Dyches also served as a special education teacher, assistant track coach and UIL academic girls coordinator for Blue Ridge High School. 

 

From 2017 to 2020, Dyches was an assistant volleyball and girls basketball coach at her alma mater San Angelo Central High School. During the three-year span, she helped the Lady Bobcats to three-straight playoff appearances and a co-district championship in 2018. The Lady Bobcats were also District runners up and qualified for the area round of playoffs in 2019. 

 

Dyches began coaching career at San Angelo’s Glenn Middle School in 2014. Following the 2016-17 school year, Dyches was named the Middle School Coach of the Year for Division 6A. 

 

A West Texas native, Dyches was raised in San Angelo, Texas, and graduated from Angelo State University in 2012.
